Regulator Dining Set - in situ

I still have a killer piece of pop art that will be added to the mix, but here's how the Regulators stand. No farmers' wives were harmed in the making of these products. The Chief gets the head of the table, titled 'My people were many', the other print is 'Mutiny on the Belafonte' (from our fav movie, Life Aquatic) by Tim Doyle, check him out.

Onwards

A few pictures of the bench frame joinery and glue up. Like the table frame, I used my bench end vice to glue up the long aprons and legs. When it came time to mill up a few more table top clips for the bench, I made a trip over to my dedicated ceiling hanging spot in the machine room where I stash my patterns. I was happy to find my 'little buddy'/cheat sheet from last time. I like it when the bunkhaus operating procedures smooth out the road. Ever since The Fen discovered the spokeshave, he's been shaping any off-cut he can. I see he's still in his PJ's here, that's just the way we roll during school holidays.

I pulled the trigger on a router table replacement. despite the glowing reviews in Fine Woodworking, the table is showing a couple thou' dip with the weight of the router. and the fence wasn't square.  They also need to find a smarter way to level the router lift...painful...a bunch of crappy nuts and bolts isn't going to cut the mustard boys. but whatever, it seems half decent, and I'm looking forward to spending some time with her.

In-between summer distractions

The short lived summer in BC is always a difficult time to stay in the shop. This years stellar season has crippled any hope of productivity. I've unfortunately re-lapsed into mountain biking, a habit I thought I'd kicked a few years ago. Somehow this wonderful new bicycle landed in the shop, which only fueled the addiction. may have to go back into rehab, or at least join a support group. However the bench for the Regulator table has been inching forward from time to time. Some pics showing rift sawing the leg stock, glueing up the aprons, angled joinery (the off-cut makes a good angle setting jig on the mortiser), shooting ends (I always kind of free-hand this with a make-shift shooting board, even for angled ends)
